Questions about Bissell 3624 Spot Clean Professional Portable Carpet Cleaner - Corded , Black
Q:
car
Answer: Yes it would clean in a car.
Answer: Yes car
Answer: This works good on car interiors.
Answer: I'm sorry that I can 't help you with respect to car usage as I have never used a spot lifter for a car . We mainly need it for inside the house . However, it has a long enough cord that one could use it outside for cleaning the car; and, as it works well for my household needs, I would assume that it would be equally good for the car, using the an attachment.
Answer: Sorry, I mainly use this product for my home (upholstery& carpet).
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes, perfectly.
Q:
Can I use this for autos? Thanks
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Oh yea...that is why I bought this. I purchased an auto and the interior had never been cleaned. I went through it meticulously with the Spotclean Pro and it now looks like new. It worked great on the carpets, upholstery, and the fabric on the door panels. Works amazing with the Folex carpet spot remover.
Answer: The Detail Geek (YouTube) it totally the reason I purchased this. Cleaned my interior car seats and they look amazing! Also used on upholstered furniture, kitchen chairs, and spots on the carpet. For extra soiled areas I pretreat with carpet cleaner first to save on refilling the tank.
Answer: It's worth noting that if you want to clean car seats, it's best to remove the seats and clean them outside so that the moisture and splatter generated by the cleaning don't get all over the other parts of the car. As well if you can leave the car seat outside in the sun, it will dry much faster then inside a car.
Answer: Do a search on YouTube for The Detail Geek. That guy cleans some of the dirtiest cars you've seen and this carpet cleaner works wonders.
Answer: Honestly, the best method I have found is with a wet/dry shop vac. Use a 5 gallon bucket and mix carpet cleaning solution with water. Use an automotive upholstery brush and scrub your seats and floor then vacuum with wet/dry shop vac. Repeat with plain water. Much faster and does an excellent job. A good 5 hp shop vac will have more suction than this. You can find a shop vac for half the price.
Answer: You can also order the automotive interior crevice tool with injection sprayer for this model according to Bissel.
Answer: Yes, as long as you have an electrical outlet.
Q:
Has anyone spent the $30.00 for the optional powered "turbo head brush?" Input, please?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: The turbo powered brush was included with my upright carpet cleaner, too, and it's awful, IMO. You cannot scrub at all with it. You will get much better results with the regular, included brush.
Answer: TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC CAP ON THE 3” BRUSH, remove from hose-- look down the hose end of the attachment you will see on the top inside a clear clip that looks something like ____/-- if you gently reach under the clip with your thumbnail to release the clip and that plastic cover can be removed for cleaning. it will work just as well
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I am buying this for when my cat throws up so I dont have to pull out my big carpet cleaning vac. I want you to know, I have the turbo brush head.......it is garbage. Don't waste your money. When you put pressure down on the head to clean the brushes stop spinning. That is what I found anyhow. You are better off using the scrub brush that came with the unit. good luck.
Answer: I have this on my upright Bissell carpet cleaner and don't recommend it. It operates on suction power and even with a little pressure on the carpet it will slow down and stop. It just as easy to manually move the included brush back and forth to clean the carpet.
Answer: We also have the turbo brush with out big unit and it's not worth it.
Answer: Yes, but save your money ... as another reviewer said, you can just scrub with the main brush you get with the unit.
Answer: Anyone use on auto carliner
Answer: Never tried it because of the Amazon reviews. Amazon has it for about half your price
Q:
does the brush rotate
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It does not rotate, but I believe there are 2 pro's to that.
Answer: No, there is no brush rotation. You get scrubbing action from the red bristles. Great, convenient little machine.
Answer: No...you scrub back and fourth
Answer: No
Q:
Is it required that you use the brand cleaning formula? I have dogs and small children, so I am concerned about the chemicals.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: We do recommend using BISSELL compact formulas with this machine. Not to worry our formulas are safe for use around pets (and people!), contain no dyes, optical brighteners, harsh chemicals, or heavy metals.
Answer: I have small kids and I don't like using chemicals unless absolutely necessary. I used plain water on the machine to clean some stains on my fabric sofa. It worked great!
Answer: I use my own solution and I have for years. I even use it with the big rental machines. I have not had any problems with it clogging the nozzle. My DIY solution has NO soap involved and your carpet is like new after you're done, no sticky residues left over on your carpet. You can get my recipe here: http://ourcloverhouse.blogspot.com/2018/01/spot-cleaning-carpet-with-diy-cleaning.html
Answer: You can use whatever cleaner youd like.
Answer: If you use homemade formulas it will clog the nozzle. I found this out the hard way, unfortunately. I have pets and was worried about the same thing you. The formula's you buy are loaded with toxic junk, regardless of what they say. For my sofa (the only reason I use it) I now use a spray bottle filled with vinegar and water.
Answer: No you can use any cleaner.
Answer: I can't help you with this. We use the cleaner that came with the machine. Sorry!
Q:
Has anyone purchased one of these after owning a Little Green ProHeat? How do they compare on suction power?
Answer: Far superior! Worth the extra money without question. The downside is its a little louder, but with a bigger motor to pull the air, thats going to be a reality. its not something that has been obnoxious though given its not a acreem or high pitch whistle fequency.
Q:
Has anyone used this to clean a sofa and loveseat? If so, how was it?
Answer: I used it to clean area rugs, bathroom rugs and the upholstery of my RV benches and dinette pillows. The other day my dog threw up on the comforter, so I cleaned that up too. This little machine is really versatile. I'll also clean my car interior with it when it's time to
Answer: All I can say is do not use on velvets with silk or linen blend. You'd have to do the entire sofa to have it all match as this freaks out the fabric and makes it look different from the rest of the sofa. DEFINITELY spot clean first!
Answer: I bought this to clean a 10 yr old tapestry fabric couch and loveseat. I read the tags After I got the machine and they said not for hot water extraction. I used luke warm water with the oxygen boost solution and it worked like a charm. You would swear this is brand new furniture. Drying time was about 6 hrs. I love this machine!
Answer: Wasn't a sofa, but did use it to clean the cushions on a rocking chair. The cushions look like new and dried within a couple of hours, even after putting quite a bit of solution down to let the liquid soak a bit. So happy with this little machine!
Answer: Yes, I did...also chairs. It worked like a charm! Just follow the directions. I did LOTS of research before finally buying this item, & I'm so glad I did. I treat it with "kid gloves", because it's my favorite cleaning tool. (& I've spent plenty on regretted purchases). After the sofa dries, I spray t gently with Fabreez & put a couple dryer sheets (Snuggle or Bounce, etc.) under the seat cushions to keep it smelling fresh.
Answer: Sorry, I returned this when I realized it is an extractor (like a carpet cleaner) and not a steam cleaner. I use the steam cleaner for the sofa as it doesn't get it nearly as wet as the extractor would. The Bissell relies on hot water and chemicals (they stink in my view), so I prefer the steam cleaner for that reason as well. Good luck!
Answer: To answer your questions, yes but you have to considered what cleaning agent you're using versus what your furniture material is. They always say "test a small spot out first" to make sure you don't mess up your fabric or what not. That being said, this does have capability to clean furniture as well.
Q:
Do the brush head tools come apart for cleaning? this was a big negative on my old bissell little green and these look to be the same bad design. ?
Answer: Only the bigger brush head comes apart the smaller one does not, I tried to get it off but with no luck then seen that the plastic clear part was glued on so it does not come off at all for cleaning.
Answer: The brush head actually does come apart. If you reach into the round end of the brush (where it connects to the hose), there's a little tab that you can pull down and the 2 pieces of the brush head come apart for cleaning. Pull firmly so that it comes apart, but gently, because it's just a plastic tab.
Q:
Do you have to empty out the clean water tank each time after use, or can you leave it in so you are ready for the next use? Thanks!
Answer: I leave the clean water tank ready to rock, however, I do clean out the dirty tank after each use! This machine works great!
Answer: You actually can leave it because unless you're doing a really heavy job you probably won't even use half of your clean water. I wouldn't leave the clean water if I didn't plan on using it in a week.
Answer: I would not leave the clean water in the tank, because I have done this with mine not wanting to waste any cleaning solution, however I now see spots of mold growing on the walls of the tank.
Answer: The other problem with leaving the clean water is it works best with warm water, so you would be sacrificing effectiveness.
Answer: I would always clean out both tanks after each use. Leaving the solutions and dirty muck sitting could cause damage to the seals and cause leaking.
Answer: You should never leave either clean or dirty fluid in the machine after you're done using it. Mine died after one year because I was doing that. I got it repaired under warranty but they told me that was what happened.
Answer: I empty and rinse out both sides after every use. again, very easy to use.
Q:
Would this work well to clean the entire couch or is it just for spot cleaning.
Answer: This will work great on furniture. With one tank, I cleaned my couch, chair, carpet runner on the steps and more. I'm really happy with it.
Answer: I have cleaned our micro fiber couch just be careful not to use to much water on regular cloth material Anything underneath it will be harder to remove the water. I've even cleaned my stairs with it great machine. Side note I use the hottest tap water I can get.
Answer: I've used it to clean the whole couch. Works pretty well, just takes awhile to do each section. Factor in drying time.
Answer: It can be used for the entire couch but it's going to take a little more elbow grease than some are prepared to offer up. It is made for spots but by using the larger hose end you can get a little more square footage covered.
Answer: I forgot pre treat any dark stains will help you
Q:
can i use this clean baby orine
Answer: Just give baby Orine a bath like a normal parent.
Answer: Yes - I have used it to clean up pet accidents.
Answer: Yes, it's great on couch cushions or small area rugs. I highly recommend this spot cleaner! It is great if your child has an accident to clean anywhere.
Answer: If you are asking about urine, the answer is of course you can, as long as it's not on the baby.
Answer: I assume you mean urine and the answer is yes, but perhaps not directly on the child...
Answer: do you mean 'urine'? Yes, you can.
Q:
since this is not a steam cleaner, if I want to spot clean pet stains, will it be effective without using any cleaning solution? That is, will it be e
Answer: I have only used Bissell spot remover with mine and it has worked great for all my spills and I even got out a stain that I have had in my chair from when I first got it. I have had no problems with mine and I enjoy using it. Very easy to work and does a great job not spending a lot of time going back over it again as I did with my old one.
Answer: I use vinegar in ours (1/4 cup) in lieu of solution and it works great! For fresh pet accidents it comes out right away... The more set in (dried and discovered later) stains I just make several passes to really get deep into the fibers with the cleaning solution and then vacuum up all the liquid so the carpet is almost dry.
Answer: It will not be forceful enough to extract all the urine or feces without cleaning solution to assist.
Q:
I know this one doesn't come with wheels...so how heavy is it if you fill it up fully with water?
Answer: I think is weighs 13 lbs. with a 3/4 gallon tank. 1 gallon of water weighs 8.34 lbs., so... about 20-21lbs full.
Answer: Not heavy at all. The water tank doesn't hold that much water. Maybe a gallon or less.
Answer: not heavy at all ..... very easy to use and fast ....
Answer: It is not very heavy and is pretty easy to tote around.
Answer: Not heavy at all. Fill tank small and lasts a long time.
Answer: Not very heavy at all, I mean you feel it but it can't weigh more than a regular vaccuum
Answer: It's very light, you won't have a problem lifting it
Q:
The Bissell SpotBot is made in the USA. Where is this machine made?
Answer: China
Q:
I'm confused... in the description, it says "Not a Steam Cleaner". Huh? If not a steam cleaner, what is it? How does it differ from one?
Answer: It is a detergent and water cleaner with vacuum. If you want "hot" water you have to pour hot water in the clean water tank. It has a vacuum to suck up excess water after you clean the area. I use it for pet and child accident clean ups. It has worked on some very tough spots on the carpet. Hope that answers your question.
Answer: The cleaner uses water and fabric/rug cleaning solutions. The unit does not have a heater in it it uses the hot water from a sink faucet to fill it.
Answer: Steam cleaner makes steam, this is a hot water extractor , it sprays hot water through a small nozzle under vac head as you go along , so it sprays water solution then vacuums it , steamers are for sanitizing and cleaning hard surfaces this is great for carpets and couches
Answer: It uses warm/hot water and cleaning solution, but not steam, per se.
Answer: Important to note, it does not heat water. You will have to add hot water into it every time
Q:
How do you clean the hoses? I have had to disassemble units in the past with little positive results..
Answer: After each spot cleaning I dump the dirty water and then run warm clean water in the sink and suck it up. So far it has worked perfectly and heft me with a clean hose.
Answer: I usually just run a little water thru it while running vacuum. Bigger problem is that the hose is very poor quality & lasts only a year or two. I had mine replaced under warranty after less than two years.
Q:
I put the nozzle on my skin to test the suction on my new machine and it seems fairly low. Is the suction supposed to be high? Compare to Shop Vac? Ty
Answer: I have not done a suction test on my hand. I have used the machine on a fairly thick and dense plush nylon carpet and found the suction to be very good. I had no problem extracting the cleaning solution and/or the clear water rinse I used after the cleaning solution. The carpet felt slightly damp following extraction but easily dried in a short period of time with an oscillating fan.
Answer: Great observation Waffles. Carpet deep cleaners tend to have lower suction than vacuums which is by design. You should have no problem suctioning the dirty water from your carpet/upholstery when using this unit.
Answer: I tried the cleaner with a bare hose ( no attachment) and with the floor tool. You're quite correct, the suction isn't as great as a household vacuum. That said, I have used it a few times since I bought it and it has performed very well. I don't think that you need to be concerned. A vacuum and a spot cleaner are two different machines designed to do two different jobs and the Bissell in question seems to be just fine.
Q:
Does it have a hands-free feature like SpotBot?
Answer: No it does not. It works like a small vacuum cleaner.
Answer: No, it does not. It's basically like most upright carpet cleaners, but smaller and easier to handle for upholstery, carpet spots, or area rugs.
Q:
How do you thoroughly clean the dirty tank? Even when flipping it in all directions theirs still water left. Seems like poor design vs putting drain
Answer: Open it
Answer: Once you remove the dirty water tank from the machine, you can flip the handle completely over the tank to release the lid. (I know this question is years old but hopefully other people find it useful!)
Answer: I did not notice some water left in the tank. I will have to pay attention to this but what I suggest is to keep the lid open to the tank when storing. The water will evaporate. I keep mine in the garage and living in Southern California the temperature can reach up to 108 degrees...which it is today.
Answer: I have only used this once. I can't tell the difference between this and the Green machine which is a lot less expensive. This thing is an overpriced piece of junk. The extraction is non existent. You would be better off with a spray bottle and a shop vac. I gave this 1 star because I could not give it a zero. So getting all the water out is the least of my concerns. Return it if possible.
Q:
I am deciding between this and Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner<-has great ratings, too. Any experience with these? Which is easier to clean?
Answer: Depends on your use. Auto spot cleaners (without hoses) are useless on anything but floors.
Answer: I haven't tried the Rug Doctor but the Bissell is very easy to clean--just dump the dirty water out, rinse with clean water and you're done! I recently cleaned the carpet in our ,otorhome with our Bissell and it looks brand new. I am very pleased with this machine.
Answer: This unit has easy to clean water tanks. However mine leaks badly and I got less than a year's use from it.
Q:
Which is the wattage of this? Thanks
Answer: Oddly enough that information is NOT in any of the documentation, however, I was determined to answer this question. Located on the unit behind the cleaning solution container is a label. 110v at 5.7A, using ohm's law (P=IE) the answer is: 627 watts! Said another way, this unit draws about 1/3 of the power of a typical electric floor heater (which is usually limited to 1500 watts).
Answer: Thank you so much for the positive feedback! It is really appreciated. -Stu
Answer: 110
Q:
I noticed the fill line fills the entire tank. What if you just want to clean a small accident? Seems wasteful of water and solution. Suggestions?
Answer: Make a half tank by using 48oz of water and 1oz concentrated cleaning solution. Or, make a quarter tank using 24oz water and 1/2oz concentrated cleaning solution. This is based on a full tank of water 96oz (3/4 gal) and 2oz concentrated cleaning solution.
Answer: We tried just leaving solution in the tank...new puppy and unfortunately, numerous occasions to use the cleaner. As she's learned now and the accidents are less, we just put plain water in the tank, spray the spot with Simple Solution...an enzyme cleaner made for pet cleanup, then vacuum up everything, and rinse with plain water and vacuum again.
Answer: Make a full tank. There's no reason to throw it out after one accident. We just got a new puppy and over the course of 3-months have only just now used up the 96oz.
Q:
Can you only use this for liquid messes or will this clean-up vomit?
Answer: It could clean up vomit like a boss
Answer: Yes, it's a wonderfull product for cleaning up messes. Thanks,
Answer: This machine cleans....anything !
Answer: It wont pick up any solids larger than a couple millimeters, at least not with the extraction head attached to the hose.
Answer: Yes, just pretreat the soiled area and it comes out great.
Answer: Yes that and other acdendents
Q:
Can this be used without a solution (just water)?
Answer: That's how 99% of people use extractors. You clean the area with cleaning solution, then use clean water in the machine to rinse the cleaner and dirt out.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does this work well for cleaning car seats?
Answer: I have used the cleaner on my truck interior, mostly the floors, but some on the seats. It does work well and I was happy with its performance. The biggest thing to pay attention to; however, is the cleaning solution you use. I used the Bissell solution that came with the cleaning machine and it was fine. Whatever you use, follow the dilution instructions and test in an inconspicuous area before going to town on the whole seat.
Answer: I've used it on carpet and my microfiber couch which it has done a good job on. I have not tried it on car seats, but I would imagine it would do just fine.
Answer: I have leather, myself, but have used it for cleaning other upholstery. It comes with two sizes of cleaning heads; the smaller one works very well for this purpose.
Answer: Yes, it works very well.
Answer: I am not satisfied with this product on indoor carpets.
Answer: It's very good for that!
Q:
have they fixed the hose cracking issue?
Answer: Hi, so far haven’t had the issue, from the pictures that I looked online seems that it depends on the usage and maintenance that machine gets. haven’t had the issue yet, but I have to keep in mind to keep the hose clean without any solution remaining when is not in use, so I can prevent plastic material to deteriorate.
Q:
Can you just put this machine on spots and let it clean by itself?
Answer: The problem I found with this is that the "circled" area cleaned ended up cleaner than the rest of the carpet and so the edges of the circle were really hard to blend into the rest of the carpet!
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
how would you rate this compared to the $50 daily rental carpet cleaning machine at your local big box store? say out of 10? tough stains?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I only used it for cleaning the furniture. It wS really great and easy to clean when finished. Too small for full rug cleaning but good for spots.
Q:
Does the hose detach from the unit so the hose can be thoroughly cleaned? I've had two spotbots and liked them but the hose got nasty.
Answer: Hi Kimberly - The hose does not detach from this cleaner. Try suctioning clean water and a mild detergent from a bowl to clean the hose!
Answer: I remove the head of the hose (the brush) and suction hot water straight from the tap. When the tank is full, I do it again. To empty the machine completely, I put the hose into the sink and tip the machine toward the sink and more water comes out of the tank(hose).
Answer: In the instructions is says to suction out the hose to clean it so I don't think it comes off.
Q:
Is this a vaccum as well?
Answer: No...this unit is intended to remove small liquid spills and dried dirt spots from carpets and upholstery.
Answer: it's not technically a vacuum but when you don't press on the shampoo/water release nozzle it does vacuum up the water from the carpet. So in a limited way it could be used probably to vacuum up a spill on a sofa or in a car. It doesn't have a filter though or a bag for dirt. All the water goes into a holding container
Answer: Hi K'Chelle - this cleaner is not designed for dry vacuuming.
Answer: Not really..it sucks up the dirt, and cleaning fluid you squirt, but the directions say to thoroughly vacuum first.
Answer: You. Can for small. Projects.
Q:
Can you use Hoover detergent with this unit. I have a bunch left over from my old hoover. I'm assuming since it's just soap it's all the same stuff
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I see no reason why you couldn't use the Hoover Brand or any other brand for that matter. By the way the Bissell is a wonderful machine and I've had it for over two years and have never had a problem.
Answer: Sorry, I've got no experience to offer. I reckon the fluids have got to be compatible with the pumps and parts to avoid problems, but it might be safe to try? I've got a Hoover we use for slate floors with grout, am using the Bissell on carpets and upholstery wouldn't want to gum either one of the up...
Answer: I use my own mixture. Works great! I could not be more pleased with this unit.
Answer: I have used many different brands
Q:
Does this work well for cleaning an entire 9x12 area rug? Seems to be great for spot cleaning but im looking for something to replace a cleaner rental
Answer: I bought this for cleaning the carpet on our Pontoon and for small rugs I have in my house. It works great for all of this but if the rug is to big it will take you a long time to get it all cleaned. It does a great job so if you want to use it for bigger jobs it's just going to take time.
Answer: No - it could be done, but it would be super tedious. The sprayer head is only about 5 inches wide. That would be a lot of scrubbing. Because one of my dogs had a major problem for awhile, I went ahead and got a Rug Doctor, which worked really well. You can get a Bissell carpet shampooer for about $100, though, and that would do for most people.
Answer: No. This is a spot cleaner only.
Answer: It’s small. It would work, but you would be on your knees for a long time....
Q:
Can the kinking hose issue be fixed by not wrapping it up but just lying the hose next to the machine for storage?
Answer: Yes that's what I do, I don't wrap it all the way up and let the end lay flat , have had no problems with it!
Q:
i'm looking for something to clean my car seats with to "detail" my own car and everything out there including this is for "carpet". Will this work?
Answer: I don't see why not, but it will get the upholstery wet, so you'll probably need to ventilate the car after cleaning. I use the stuff in a can that foams and cons with a little brush. I guess if your seats are very dirty, you might want to suction the dirty cleaning water with this machine. I returned mine, however, and got a steam cleaner instead--which just uses heat and doesn't get stuff wet (if used properly, which takes some practice).
Answer: Yes, this will work. It is one if better ones. I use it for pet spots, furniture, and in the car. Do not get the carpet overly wet. Let it dry then do it again.
Answer: Yes, I know someone who just uses it to clean the upholstery/carpets in his cars.
Q:
It seems the dirty tank just sit on the rubber of the intake, and no lock at all, does the intake leak?
Answer: We haven't had any problems with leakage out of either tank--and I store it ready to go with cleaning solution in it. One thing I do though is clean the intake tank after every use--mayybe that helps keep it sealed since there is no dirt to jam up in the rubber. My only "complaint" so far is that it cleans the spots too well and makes the rest of the carpet look bad! Lol
Answer: yes it sits on the rubber of the intake but the lock arm is on the front of the and acts as the handle also which makes it easy to use and no it does not leak at all, and i used it five days in a row the first week i got it. It really is very good at spot cleaning!
Answer: There is no problem with leaking from the dirty tank. Sometimes some liquid dribbles out from the vacuum hose when you are reeling it back into place, but it is not a problem.
Answer: I haven't had a problem with any leakage, the tank that collects the dirty water locks w/the handle is in the forward position
Answer: It did not leak for my wife.
Answer: I've never had a leak at all.
Answer: That joint is never immersed in water and when there is vacuum force it is held together tightly. It has never leaked.
Q:
approximately how long is the hose attachment?
Answer: approx. 4' in length and 8" on the nozzle.
Q:
Does the dirty tank lock into the housing (black slot for the dirty tank) somehow? I am having trouble with the dirty tank leaking from the bottom.
Answer: The top of the dirty tank locks onto the bottom part of the tank, but the tank itself does not lock into place on the machine.
Answer: Sorry to hear it's leaking, Kristina! The tank will not fully look in place so, for instance, if the unit were turned upside down the tank could slide out. If it's leaking from the bottom there could be a crack in the water tank. Give us a call and we'll be able to figure out why it's leaking and how to fix it. 1-800-237-7691.
Answer: It does lock into place. The handle on the dirty tank should be rotated all the way out to secure it. If you have done so, and it still leaks, make sure the rubber seal on the intake in not ripped or crushed. Or make sure the tank itself is not cracked.
Q:
I have a couple of area rugs 8 x 10. Would it be silly to get something with this small of a head to do the entire rug? Any thoughts?
Answer: I don't believe that would be stupid. My cleaner came with a large and a small head. I could see it actually being more convinced than buying a large cleaner.
Answer: I think it would do a great job on the area rugs - it really wouldn't take all that long. I used it on my indoor/outdoor rugs I have in the kitchen and it did a good job
Answer: Most likely, the head is really good for spot cleaning but I think an area rug would be a little aggressive. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this thing, and if you are patient enough it CAN do it, I just don't know if you want to spend the time. Lets put it this way, I cleaned up about a 3' square area mess (Coffee) in about 5 minutes (multiple passes, etc), so you can go from there.
Answer: that would be hard on your back using a small cleaner like this.I would use a regular stem cleaner..this one is perfect for furniture and stairs.
Answer: It is doable but I would prefer a bigger model. I have a larger Hoover shampooer for larger rugs although Bissell might make a larger one as well.
Q:
Where can I order a specific part of the machine that I lost? The plug that twists on with the small tube connected to it
Answer: Hello Jeremy, we are sorry to hear you are having this issue. We recommend you contact Bissell's customer support. They are very helpful and can get you the part you need. We have provided their number. 1-800-237-7691. We hope this helps you. Kind regards, JJRM2KDirect support team.
Answer: Amazon or eBay i think
Q:
does it suck up liquid?
Answer: Yes, it definitely can. That's basically one of its features, sucking up back its water formula together with the dirt. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, it shoots out soap in one pass and sucks it and dirt back out in second pass.
Answer: This machine performs 2 functions, and that's definitely one of them....
Answer: Yes : )
Q:
I'm looking for a rug cleaner can this clean rugs too?
Answer: Hello Johnny, great question. This item is a professional spot cleaner, and removes tough spots and stains from carpet, stairs, upholstery and more (Not a Steam Cleaner). If you are looking for a cleaner which cleans complete areas of rugs, then you may want to look at other Bissell products, as this is item is listed as a spot cleaner. We hope this helps you. Kind regards, JJRM2KDirect support team.
Answer: Yes, that's what it's for... but just for spots and small areas. If you have a larger area to clean, you will want a full size machine. My SpotClean won't spray the solution (only after a few uses). I have to spray with a bottle, and suck up with the machine.
Answer: yes, it has worked well for me on carpets and rugs
Answer: It is a great machine and dose a wonderful job, but if you are looking to do a large amount of carpet no it won't. The big upright machine works great on big area's of carpet
Answer: I've spot cleaned a couple of smaller ones and it worked fine for me. It does not however have the same suction as a larger machine so it takes a little longer to dry.
Answer: Yes absolutely!
Q:
What is the capacity of each tank?
Answer: I don't quite remember. The capacity is noted in the description. One feeds the water with the cleaner mixed and the second holds the waste water that has been sucked up. Great for smaller areas. Home carpet, the car, etc. Powerful suction.
Answer: Not entirely sure, maybe a gallon each?
Answer: Three quarts
Q:
Could this be used on a yoga mat?
Answer: Probably, if the mat isnt machine washable. I wouldn’t spend the money for this so-so appliance. I would buy a new mat.
Q:
mine has stopped spraying. Anyone have a fix?
Answer: Maybe the solution tank feed tube is clogged. Try cleaning that feed tube.
Q:
mine leaves a round residue stain where I clean. How do I get this out and has anyone had a problem with this? I have lighter beige color carpet.
Answer: I have not had this problem. I always pretreat spots with spray stain remover and then clean with the machine. I also use a spray bottle with plain water to spray after cleaning and then suction out as much moisture as possible.
Answer: I've used it on light gray, off-white, and red carpets. I haven't had any residue stains at all.
Answer: I get stains too after cleaning. I fix stains with dry Capture cleaner. Try it. You'll love it.
Answer: Yes , it made a worse stain than when I started , had to have my carpet professionally cleaned .
Q:
Is this a good machine to use for couches?
Answer: I haven't used mine on furniture, but it seems to me it would do a good job. You would control the amount of solution used and the scrubbing action.
Answer: Perfect for couches/chairs/cushions
Answer: GREAT PRODUCT. WORKS GREAT ON COUCHES.
Answer: Yes. This would work great, but I would use a spray can carpet cleaner bush in and let set for 30 minutes , then use the Bissell.
Answer: The best......
Q:
Will this work on silk carpets?
Answer: Yes, but be very careful to make sure that whatever cleaning solution you put IN the machine is compatible with what you plan to clean. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
Q:
Does it really take two months to ship?
Q:
Does it work with barkbath grooming tool?
Answer: The spray doesn't pump for any tool - something internal not working.
Q:
is this machine good for use on high back upholstered chairs?
Answer: I still had the user's manual sitting out, and here is what it says:

Product reviews of Bissell 3624 Spot Clean Professional Portable Carpet Cleaner - Corded , Black
Lizzie Askew : Get a wet/dry vacuum instead
This machine is basically just a wet/dry vac with a little sprayer that continuously spits out your mix of hot water and cleaning fluid. There's no steaming function, so really you could just get a wet/dry vac (many of which have larger tanks than this), go buy some of the industrial carpet cleaner at the store, mix it with some hot water in a spray bottle, and Shazaam, you've got the exact same thing! Only, a wet/dry vac may be better. This machine doesn't seem appropriate for sucking up chunks of anything, only liquid, because the nozzles that come with it have only small openings for suction. A regular wet/dry vac is more versatile, so this thing seems a bit gimmicky to me. However, the cleaning fluid was REALLY effective. It took out stains that wouldn't come out the last time I rented an industrial carpet cleaner. It's the only kind I will buy now.
Rian : This actually works
I NEVER write reviews. However, this needs one. I bought this because my dog decided to pee all over my old bedroom with a white rug. I tried cleaning it three months ago with a scrub brush, warm water and a little carpet cleaner. Obviously it didn't work and stained. Randomly, I bought this BISSEL two nights ago to avoid this happening again...and it actually got up all the old stains from months ago! I am so shocked. Check out my pictures.
This is definitely a great machines for animal owners, or clumsy people just spill here and there
Lee Krize : This is a piece of junk.
The hose wont stay connected to the base and the handle wont stay connected to the hose. It's hard to vacuum anything when the vacuum hose wont stay connected at either end. I had to resort to placing a screw in the handle to keep it attached. I'll probably toss it in the trash rather than ever use it again.
thx1138 : Waste of time and money
I was considering returning it when it first arrived because the hose is designed to kind of kink where it meets the head assembly (you can see it in the product pic). I ended up keeping it and using it maybe five times over the past year. This morning I went to clean up a spill and found a circumferential tear halfway around the hose at exactly the point where it meets the head assembly. Terrible design. Bissell customer service was unhelpful. "Clark" told me to take it to a service center right away without me even describing the issue. He deflected questions about whether the cost of replacement would be covered under the warranty (at one point denying then later confirming this tear is a manufacturing defect). He claimed he could not provide me with a reference/ticket number for our call and that his supervisor was in a meeting so my call could not be escalated. Forty-five minutes on the phone and I am no closer to a resolution. Do not waste your money on this cheap machine or this shady company.
Matt : Small unit but has sufficient power for spot treatment and upholstery
My primary reason for purchasing this unit was to cleanup occasional pet messes for our two cats (hairballs, vomit, urine). I am so far pleased with the power, performance and portability of this cleaner. I would caution against smaller machines, as their motor power which is about half this Bissell unit clearly won't have sufficient suction. This machine will pull the vast majority of the water/cleaner you deploy with the sprayer, so it will not leave carpets soaking wet. The nozzle attachment has a nice clear window of the suction action, so you can easily tell when cleaning solution and soil is being pulled up into the vacuum. The size of the tanks are well proportioned, allowing you to cover a decent sized cleaning project without multiple refills.
I read in other reviews that users have had issues with the durability of the hose, especially at connection points with the vacuum and the attachments. I am taking care not to overly stress these areas...but I also think some of the negative posts are over-rated. Clearly if you handle the equipment in a rough manner, you will prematurely wear and break the hose. This isn't a stretch hose, so pulling on it with excess force or trying to expand it beyond its actual length is going to break it (your fault, not the machine's). Also, I can tell from some posts/pictures, the users did not take care to keep the machine clean after use and likely also stored the machine without allowing parts to dry. I'd fault the user/owner for improper care in that regard and not fault the equipment. Like any tool or appliance, if you take proper care of the equipment and follow manufacturer guidance (aka READ THE MANUAL), you'll avoid these premature breakage situations. Bissell clearly instructs owner to run clean water through the machine after use, clean components and stow away when dried. If you will be too lazy to do this then that is on you.
In closing, this is a quality machine that will perform well for smaller, targeted jobs...which is entirely what it's intended to do and within its designed purpose. It is accurately represented in the manufacturer details. It's got a functional and logical design. Fair purchase value.
India : More than worth it's price (or weight in gold if you prefer!)
This machine is a godsend, especially if you own pets that have even occasional accidents. Our dog has a medical issue that causes her to "leak," but even 6 months of leaking on our brand new carpet was not even a challenge for this machine. (I should also mention that, while the machine comes with a smaller bottle of professional stain cleaner, we followed the advice of others and bought the professional pet urine remover, and it was so very worth it.) The best part, besides the obvious cappability of the machine to remove all past hint of every stain, is the simplicity and convince of use. I have a terrible back, but even though this machine was much more comfortable for me to use while sitting on the floor, that was no inconvenience, and neither was the simple and fast process of filling, emptying, and refilling the canisters of clean and dirty liquid, both of which can easily bone at the same time simply and neither, or both together weigh too much at all to carry. With all of that being said, I had through cleaned 20 square feet of carpet within an hour or less. (As a side note, I was almost finished when I looked behind me and freaked out because all of the new dark black spots were appearing! Suggestion, don't wear a brand new pair of black suede mocossins as you drag the tops of your feet behind you while cleaning with wet cleaner! However, even these stupid stains on my part, came right up, as soon as I cleaned them ????).
KEV : Bad Hose. Ripped already.
My hose already ripped. Poor quality hose. Everything is great but the hose really sucks. And the hose is hard and not easy to bend. Just through mine in the trash this morning after a year. Fix the hose problem bissel.
Jess : The Low-Down on Their Hoses
November 2018: Pleased to say the machine and hose are still intact. I've used it over a dozen times this year, it's running like a champ. Satisfied!
Edit: I contacted BisselI and they instructed me to take the unit to a local vacuum repair, where the hose was replaced under warranty. I was happy they stood behind their product and I didn't have to pay to have it shipped anywhere. However, I can't help but wonder how long this new hose will hold up, given how little use I got from the original. I will keep updating this review and let you all know how it goes.
Original Review: I guess Bissell used bad plastic to manufacture the hose. Other reviewers warned that it was brittle. I even used the double hair-tie method to hold the end in place so it wasn't stressing the plastic, hoping to use this handy little machine for at least a year or two. However, I only got to use it a handful of times in the 3 months since purchasing before the same thing happened to me. I was shampooing the inside of my husband's truck when I noticed the water was no longer being suctioned up. I look down, and sure enough, the hose is split. This machine was never abused- in fact, I handled it like fine china. I am so, so disappointed in Bissell, as well as myself for not listening to the other's warnings.
Marina Worman : Impressive suction and easy to use.
I used to have the Little Green machine. I gave that to a friend and opted for this one to replace it. I’m very happy with that decision!
They are both great cleaners but the brush of this cleaner is wider and covers more surface. The dump tank is also slightly easier to clean remove in my opinion.
This little cleaner is powerful, easy to move around and stores without a fuss.
I have a dog and young family, so messes happen often. I kinda feel like I abuse this machine because I’m constantly breaking it out. It’s removed red wine from carpet, henna from an ottoman and pet accidents effortlessly. Super impressive suction.
It gets out tough stains and leaves the carpet only slightly damp after use so it dries fairly fast. I keep the cleaning solution in the machine but dump and run clear hot water through the hose after each use to keep it in tip top shape.
It’s a good buy. I think you’ll be happy.
Clifford The Crosstrek : Great little machine for the novice detailer!
I use this to detail my dirty subaru's now monthly. It's surpassed all of my expectations. It has one job, and it does it well. Few gripes I have is the hose could be a bit longer, and the waste water tank doesn't like to clean out easily! Lifted subaru's and this machine just don't quite match, and I hate to bring the machine in the car with me. Gets in the way. As for the tank, running water through it helps.
My few suggestions to to anyone using this machine! For one, don't use solution in the tank. This tends to be wasteful, and you should be pretreating everything anyways. Use straight HOT water. This helps pull the cleaner and dirt out without leaving excessive residues in fabrics and carpets
Two, run hot water though the machine after each use. This keeps the nozzles and everything working well, and prevents any unwanted smells.
Papa T : Excellent Power and effectiveness.
This Bad Boy has got real power. This thing cleans like you would hope it to clean. Sucks water right out of the carpet leaving it pretty dry. I have other Bissell carpet cleaners that do not even compare. If you want clean this is your gig. Impressed.
JDH : Allows cats to live.
I own a cat. If you own a cat, then you probably need one of these. I previously had a full upright carpet cleaner but it just didn't do the job needed to get out cat accidents that the spot cleaner can. It will prevent you from killing your cat. Cat's everywhere love the Bissell SpotClean. Just don't use directly on cat as the product was not intended for that. Carpets only. The hose and brush attachment really let you scrub deep and is only limited by your own muscle power. So if you buy this for your elderly mom, you may be using it for her also. But for everybody else, it's great. And for studio apartment dwellers, it comes with the added feature of not taking up as much space as an upright. Put it on the top shelf thing your futon closet that you're using for a giant junk storage. You know who you are. It's totally fine with that and doesn't mind sharing space with the cassettes and CDs you haven't listened to since 1991.
Average Joe : Buy it. Surprise, it works!
Ok, this is a tough one to write about. Why? I have a dog that treats the house like pig treats a pen. H goes everywhere. Don’t get me started on training. Suffice it to say that he’s like those very smart people you know that do very stupid things....and they think they are funny. Back to the product. I’ve had 30 of these things , all brands, makes, and models. Guess what? They are all called spot bot too. This one , this ,Bissel, is called a spot clean or something I don’t care about. I tried it, fully prepared to set it on fire. Damn, it worked. Carpet was damp, and the spot of crap was gone! I almost went next door and bring the neighbors over! The crap spot is gone ! I’m rethinking my religious choices. Everything is right with the word. Granted, it’s one time. But I am so hopeful. I’ll let you know more later. Cranky ol Joe
Jordan Hamilton Pierce : Saves time & energy
LIKES: I just did my couch & ottoman & using this machine took way less time & energy that Resolving, hand scrubbing, & vacuuming in three separate steps. It literally cuts out the steps completely as it’s all in one! It was very easy to use & I wish I’d had it this whole time as there are a few stains on the ottoman that I’ve noticed lighten a great deal but may be beyond removing at this point. I love the smell of the Bissell cleaner that comes with the machine. At fifteen dollars for a bottle it seems expensive, but you use only a capful, so in the long run it’s really no big deal. I did notice the machine sucked up teensy crumbs & dog hair as well, which is nice, however if I didn’t vacuum regularly I think the hose would’ve clogged from the hair. So in the event that your couch is covered in it, I’d vacuum first, then use this. I like the brushes, the bristles seems to do a good job getting out dirt & grime. However, be advised they have to be held at a certain angle & for the vacuum to work.
DISLIKES: My biggest gripe with this machine & my Bissell vacuum are the plastic hoses they include. They’re not very durable. As such, I’d advise anyone purchasing a Bissell machine to be very careful with the hose. Don’t bend it or twist it more than necessary while cleaning. Meanwhile make sure you’ve got a warranty! This machine came with a two year warranty. Be advised the brush heads have triggers on the underside that spray the soapy water. The trigger can be a bit annoying as it’s pretty easy to accidentally hit it again while just intending to vacuum. I was a bit let down by the vacuum feature as I’d hoped it would leave the furniture drier. Unfortunately for as much of the soapy water & dirt & grime as it sucked up, it does leave your upholstery damp. I’m assuming that it will take anywhere from two to four hours to dry. I expect the couch to dry faster, as I had more stains on the ottoman & therefore used more solution.
IN CONCLUSION: Despite my dislikes, after using it I’d say I think this machine is worth it if only due the amount of time & energy it saves by washing, scrubbing, & vacuuming all at once. Do I think this machine is necessary? No of course not. You can do just as good a job by hand with a scrub brush & a basic vacuum. However it is much more time consuming doing it the old fashioned way. So if you’ve opportunity to treat yourself, if you’ve dogs or kids that are constantly making messes, if you’re over the time & energy spent cleaning by hand, perhaps get yourself one of these or a similar model. I give it four stars.
Ryan G. : Much better than the SpotBot!
We used to have a Bissell SpotBot, and used it frequently, due to two young children constantly making messes. However, after the first few uses, we stopped using the automated feature of the SpotBot, because it uses a TON of shampoo, and cleaning up spills and stains with the hand tool took a fraction of the time anyway.
The SpotClean Pro has a more compact footprint than the SpotBot, which is nice for storage. It also has more suction, which seems to do a better job of sucking all of the solution out of the carpet or upholstery, so everything dries faster. This also means that it should suck more of the stains out.
I also much prefer the hose storage of the SpotClean Pro, compared to the SpotBot, which required wrapping the hose around the base of the unit, which inevitably caused tangles with the cord while trying to put it away.
One of my favorite features though is the ability to thoroughly clean the recovery tank. The recovery tank on the SpotBot got NASTY...and there is no way to clean it out, because the only way to get to the inside is through the dump hole in the bottom. On the SpotClean Pro, the whole lid comes off, and there aren't really any nooks or crannies for gunk to hide in. Also, both the solution storage tank and the recovery tanks are MUCH larger than on the SpotBot, so you can get more cleaned with fewer trips to the bathroom to dump and refill.
I do have a couple complaints about this unit though...it's rather heavy to lug around, and it's so loud that I have started wearing ear plugs while cleaning spots to prevent hearing damage. If you can get beyond that though, it gets an A+ for performance.
General comment on carpet shampooing: Carpet shampoo attracts dirt, which causes stains. Use half of the manufacturer's recommended concentration of shampoo and you should notice less recurring stains, with little or no loss of cleaning power. Better yet, do a rinse step after shampooing to remove the shampoo from the carpet.
Chris H : Good cleaner - I just hope it keeps working
I bought this product to replace an old Bissell SpotBot that no longer works. The vacuum seems okay, but it would no longer spray water. I didn’t need the automatic spot cleaning capability (which I found almost worthless and never used), so this new model is a good choice. I also like that it has one on/off button instead of the five buttons on the SpotBot.
One of my primary concerns when judging a carpet cleaner is how much water it’s able to remove. Water temperature, agitation, and solution/soap no doubt play important roles, but if the dirty water doesn’t come out then the carpet won’t get clean. Its first job was to clean car seats and carpets, and I’m pleased to report it did a great job. It removed a lot of dirty water and the car is much cleaner. It would be nice if the hose were a bit longer so I could leave it on the ground while working on the seats, but it’s okay to put in on the car floor. I like the large clean water container and even larger dirty water container. (They are much bigger than the SpotBot containers.) I think others have mentioned that it’s difficult to empty all of the dirty water because of the design of the container. This isn't the case. If you pull the handle all the way back and over the top of the container, the top comes off. It's very easy to empty and clean! Big improvement. Overall I'm happy with it.
My main concern is how long it will last. I had TWO Bissell full-size home carpet cleaners and the water pump failed on both of them. I had the first pump repaired at a shop, and when it failed the second time I bought a whole new cleaner. That failed. And then the SpotBot water pump failed, so that’s FOUR water pumps that failed. I actually tried to avoid buying another Bissell for this reason, but ultimately bought it because of features and generally-good customer reviews. I hope they’ve fixed the pump problem and it lasts for a very long time. It's for this reason alone that I'm giving it four stars (instead of five) and only one star for durability. This may be unfair since I just got it. If it fails, I’ll let you know. If it lasts a year, I'll improve my rating.
electron.boy : Awesome machine, but do this one thing to make the machine last a lot longer!!!
This is a fantastic machine. It has served us well for the past 2-3 years over all types of kid and animal messes. It died though so I am buying its replacement right now Oct 2016. Bissell could have made this machine more durable because there is a terrible flaw with the hose. I have attached a photo of my new machine. Notice when the handheld brush is installed in the machine for storage, the hose becomes very bent and kinks right at the point where it goes into the plastic tool. This kink is where the hose will wear out and crack over time. The crack began small but grew quickly. Attached is a picture of my current Bissell with hose break. Bissell should have designed the holder to put less stress on this area, but since they haven't you should do as I am going to do and DO NOT PUT THE HANDHELD BRUSH IN THE HOLDER EVER! To avoid this kink problem I affixed two wire ties to the handheld brush that allow me to still hold the tool for storage. One wire tie is taunt and the other is loose and hooks over the lever of the machine, a picture of this is attached.
Again, great machine overall. One final note, don't bother with the Bissell SpotBot handsfree machines that you sit on a stain and their circular brush agitates the carpet automatically for you for like 5 minutes. You end up with a "circle" on your carpet where the stain was that you have to "blend in" using the hand tool so they disappear into the larger area rug. I lived with one of those machines too long. Your much better off doing all the work carefully by hand with the SpotClean Professional.
Hallie : A MIRACLE FROM HEAVEN
Um this is AMAZING. I shouldn't be this excited about a vacuum, but I really am. I live in NYC, have wood floors and a large (low pile) beige rug in a fairly high traffic area of my small 500 sq. ft. 1 bedroom apartment. No matter how many times you ask people to take their f ing shoes off, it's still gotten so dirty over the past six months that I've had it. Oh, and I also have a cat that sheds EVERYWHERE. And even the "Shark" dustbuster ( I have - which is like made for pet hair - was no help with that. But this thing picked up the dirt AND like ALL the cat hair. All the spots and stains (from a variety of wine spills, food spills, cigarette ash, dissenters of my no-shoes rule) are gone, and the carpet looks basically BRAND NEW. So gross to see all the grime you've been living with when you empty out the dirty water tank! Also it's really fun to use when you watch it suck all the dirty water up lol. I never write reviews but I got this tonight and had to say, AMAZING. Mind. Blown. Just do it.

Wind Engineer : Expensive, Not Powerful, Breaks Easily - Mini Wet Vac Instead
Short Version: You should not buy this product you should by a mini-wet vac for $50 and spray the stain with a spray bottle. This solution is cheaper, more powerful, and more durable.
Long Version: My main complaint with this product is that mine broke within 8 months of ownership and suction was only OK before that. This product is fancy but not durable, and it is also expensive. The suction on mine just completely died.
Compare this product to a standard mini wet vac, which is about the same size and weight. A mini wet vac cost about $50 and have a 2 horsepower motor. The Bissell Cost $150 and its power is listed at 5.7 amps which is about 0.83 HP so a mini wet vac is more than twice as powerful. The Bissell has a reservoir to store the cleaning solution and a fancy sprayer that will use a pump to spray the cleaning solution on the stain. A regular wet vac obviously doesn't have this, but you can still use the same cleaning solution and just spray it from a spray bottle. The spray function is also just another thing to break. The hose on a wet vac is a standard item, you can buy a replacement anywhere for a few dollars, and you can buy whatever extra attachments you may want very cheap. The hose on this is completely custom it is not removable, so if the hose rips (which I've seen others complain of) then the whole machine is junk. The dirty water reservoir on this is a bit odd shaped and not so easy to dump and clean out. Most mini-wet vac reservoir are very easy to dump and clean. You can also use a mini-wet vac for other things where you would never use this for anything other than spot cleaning your carpet.
This thing is just fancy overkill, the simpler solution is better.

James A. Thomason III : Did a great job cleaning up after my elderly dog...until it broke.
tl;dr - don't waste your time with this model and get a Rug Doctor Pet Portable Spot Cleaner (item #93390) instead.
I bought this 10 months ago and for the first several months it worked really great - was easy to transport, did a good job spot cleaning, and generally helped me clean up after the many _many_ urine spots left by my very elderly dog.
So, nearly a year later, the elderly dog is even _more_ elderly, and this machine has conked out.
As many others have reported - the hose ruptured near where it clips onto the machine. That's not a user serviceable part and I wasn't going to waste my time trying to go to a service center. So I repaired it with silicone repair tape. That bought me another three weeks.
After that point, where plastic where the tool attaches to the hose snapped clean off and it was done for. With the spray on the bottom, there was no way to properly re-seal it and it's done. Less than a year. I think I'll try and contact Bissell and see if I can get a warranty replacement. However, that doesn't help me in the near term which is why I just bought the Rug Doctor.
The pros - • It did a pretty good job cleaning up the carpet. This is an old cream colored wall-to-wall carpet that a basset hound is peeing on at least daily. It needs to be replaced. But the bissell mostly took care of it. • It was easy to operate and light to transport. Cord is a nice length.
The cons - • It broke in less than a year. Twice. • You need to hold your thumb over the notch where the tool clips in, since the seal doesn't appear to be completely air/water tight and covering it up improves the suction. • The performance degraded over the year. It still worked, just didn't work as well.
I wouldn't bother with it.
Kat : It was Bissell's love child of carpet cleanliness
This thing is MAGIC. Seriously. It has worked some serious miracles on pet stains, fresh pet grossness, human grossness, muddy footprints, spilled drinks/foods, upholstery stains, and even just getting fur out of the carpet that the vacuum doesn't pick up on its own. There was one day recently where my boyfriend's cat, who is a domestic long hair, got poo stuck on her fur, got scared by her own poo, freaked out, and ran around the apartment creating a nightmarish scene. My boyfriend messaged me that he had an emergency and he needed help. He showed me the carnage. I brought this little fella down, loaded it up with some carpet cleaning soap and hot water, and showed him how to work carpet miracles. He was so thankful afterwards that he told everyone that I saved the day...but it wasn't me! It was this thing. It was Bissell's love child of carpet cleanliness. He had been planning to have to scrub poo off of everywhere with paper towels and the tears of his trauma.
Voodoo4ducks : You (may) Never Need to Buy Another Hose Again! (My Easy Tip)
Ever since hand held rug cleaners were put on the market I believed I've always had one, and this one by far is the best I have yet owned! Let me get straight to the point of my header because that's why you're reading this review!
It's been my experience that it doesn't matter what make or model portable rug/upholstery cleaners in in terms of your hose & nozzle head getting clogged. Especially I f you own pets, fur is going to jam it up every time. It also doesn't matter If you are cleaning a runner or a large area rug. It's just the nature of the beast. Nozzle heads usually don't need replacing but they get gross & I've tried everything to clean them. Then often you will find that if you can find a hose that the manufacturer hasn't discontinued, good for you! If not, it is expensive. I figured this tip out years ago when my husband & I could not even afford a hose. We took the whole machine apart. Not only was the base of the hose clogged with fur & other gunk, it extended far into the interior. So, if you think replacing the hose will completely solve your problem, think again. We then of course killed the machine!
So far, for over at least ten years this has been MY full proof method. Before you begin cleaning, fill a bucket with tap water, cold or hot. If you don't have the strength to carry that like me, just fill it 1/4 of the way & refill 1/4 of the way & add water when needed. As you are cleaning, every 5 minutes are so, put the nozzle into the bucket of water and make sure it is running freely through the hose. If it's not, keep pumping water through until it does. After you clean your rug, do it once more. This little bit of upkeep will save you money and a ton of frustration.
As to this Bissel, many of you probably don't understand why others rave about the solution tank having a flat bottom. Once you've had flat, you never go back! This machine has great suction. Don't stop passing over the area once you no longer see the foam, that's when you will really see the dirt come up! It's design makes it very compact which makes it easy to store and pleasant to look at! One last tip. I purchased the kit for pets. Because of what they track inside, I use both pretreatment solutions. I have been using about 1/3 of the recommended amount of shampoo. By using all 3, your rug will definitely get clean & definitely save you a lot of time sucking up foam. For such messes, I recommend hot water for both the tank & the bucket for obvious reasons!
I highly recommend this Bissel SpotClean for upholstery and small to medium rugs!
GLagasca : Works well but really loud!
As with other reviews it did not disappoint. Two attachments that comes with it will do, one for small areas or car seats and and wider for rugs or carpet. I chose this instead of pet pro. Although comparable this one has more power in suction as compared through Bissell website. The sample cleaning solution that came with it is labeled for upright steamers. So, not sure why but still cleaned well using 2 ounces for a full tank. It also has a fresh odor than the other solution I bought, Oxy Spot and Clean separately and used it the second pass for spots the other solution did not remove. See photos (3rd photo is after second pass the next day). Some hard to remove dirt I had to soak more to work. I also used it for my car seats and area rug which worked well. I had pet stains in rug and food stains in my kitchen and car seats from my son. It cleaned it nicely but not perfectly. Just follow directions with the spray (1” distance) as it will spray all over the place if held farther. My floor was all wet while spraying my chair and had to mop dry after. I was careful with the handle where hose get more tension and breaks as stated in some reviews. This has has power but is really loud. So, wear ear plugs or your Air Pods and crank up your favorite music.
Kyle Wright : Good for spot cleaning (hence the name), consider alternatives for large areas
This is a convenient all-in-one tool that is good if you (a) don't have a strong wet-dry vac and empty spray bottle or (b) don't want to bother lugging them around / need a more compact solution like this product.
It doesn't really have great suction. I mean, maybe compared to other similar spot cleaners, but my shop vac has massively higher suction. Problem is, my shop vac is, you know, in my SHOP, covered with dust and is bulky. I don't want to have to open it up, take out the filter, clean all the sawdust off of it and lug it around every time I want to clean a little spot on a rug. If you have a good strong regular vacuum, you'll definitely want to vacuum the rug/carpet very thoroughly before using the SpotClean, and probably after it's dry too, to be absolutely sure you got out all the dirt.
Of course, the real key in getting a STAIN out (as opposed to just general cleaning or drying) is what kind of cleaning solution you use, plus how you apply it. Again, the SpotClean is a convenient way to do it, especially if you're covering a wider area like a small rug. A spray bottle would take FOREVER to cover the same area. You could, however, use a garden sprayer, like the kind you normally load up with herbicide, and just dedicate it to cleaning only. As far as I can tell there's no restriction on what kinds of cleaning solutions you can put in the tank as long as it doesn't eat through plastic or rubber, so feel free to use Oxiclean, carpet shampoo, etc. The included bottle of 2x concentrate is enough to last quite a while, especially if you only do little jobs and don't fill the tank all the way (about 3/4 gal). I don't think it's the best stuff for getting out stains, so just use whatever solution your research says is the best.
I've used this on rugs up to 5' x 7', and it's a bit of a workout considering you're on your hands and knees only covering a 6" wide strip with each pass. You're probably better off just using an actual carpet cleaning machine if you're doing a lot of rugs or a large area of carpet.
I cleaned a car interior with the SpotClean plus a bottle of homemade heavy-duty carpet cleaning solution (dish soap, rubbing alcohol, Windex, and water). I applied the solution directly from the bottle--a repurposed windshield wiper fluid bottle with a hole poked in the cap--and scrubbed it in with a dish scrubber, the kind with the handle, you know? Then let it sit for 15-20 minutes and vacuumed with the SpotClean. After that I rinsed with plain water and vacuumed again. So much filthy water got vacuumed up, and the carpets looked completely different. I did something similar to a car seat that had an entire 20oz soda spilled and soaked in, and the brown liquid just never seemed to stop pouring out. It's really gross but satisfying at the same time to see what's coming out of the fabric.
Overall, I would recommend this product as a spot cleaner or light wider-area cleaning. If you're planning on doing a lot, consider buying a good wet-dry vac (especially if you can get some kind of long handle attachment to save getting on your hands and knees) and a garden sprayer instead. They'll probably cost about the same, be bulkier, but clean much more effectively and quickly.
Josh : Beware!!
I opted out of buying a reburshed or returned one, because I would prefer a brand new one. When I received it you could blatantly tell it was a returned item none of the items were sealed properly and there was hair on both of the adapters. I was also disappointed with the suction. I did alot of research and thought this was the one. But I was wrong, maybe whoever returned it screwed it up. But just beware that they will try to pawn off a used one as new and lack of suction.
N/A : 1 star until we get a replacement & determine if this one leaked from a defect (not the hose)
We owned this carpet cleaner for a week with a new puppy. Things were awesome for 6 days until today when I returned from cleaning the parts to find a large puddle surrounding the machine. Previous reviews cautioned against wrapping the hose as it reportedly cracks so we purposefully did NOT wrap the cord but left it loose with the attachment end secured upright in the provided holder. Water was steadily pouring out mid way inside the machine from several areas that should be sealed. Nothing is leaking from the bottom, the two tanks are not the issue, nor is the hose. I will update this review upon receipt of a replacement.
K. G. Berliner : Tips learned from my trial and error
I believe in paying it forward. I have small kids and a dog. So here is what I learned from using this vacuum. First off, I would give it 4.5 stars - I rounded down, because I usually don't believe the 5 star reviews (I believe many of them are paid for). This device works great on kid/food stains. It works great on dog stains on a rug, but dog pee on a carpet never fully comes out. (I will mention brands only because these are what I use, but feel free to substitute)
Treated the area with scotch guard first. This makes a huge difference. After you clean and it dries, reapply the scotch guard. I don't mix the soap into the spray water reservoir. I keep that just clean water. I spray cleaner straight on the stain.
For dog pee: 1. Before applying anything, I spot vacuum to see if it will suck up any liquid pee. 2. Then I spray Nature's Miracle directly on the stain. I saturate the stain. 3. Leave the rug right side up, so gravity lets the liquid soak down. I leave the Nature's Miracle in for at least 15 minutes, but if the first application doesn't work, I repeat the process and and leave it over night. 4. If the stain is on carpet, you are basically out of luck - sorry. But if the dog peed on the rug, I then spray the water on to the stain until saturated again. Then I flip the rug and vacuum from the bottom of the rug. 5. While flipped, I also spray and vacuum the rug slip preventer. 6. Once I have vacuumed most of the liquid out, I saturate with water again, to get the soap out. 7. Then flip the rug back right side up, and do a once over to get any water from the top side.
This works great on rugs. I have yet to figure out the best formula for carpet.
Note: After you clean dog pee, the reservoir will stink!!!! SO, I spray some Clorox spray into the nozzle while the vacuum is running to clean the hose. Then I dump and rinse the waste container. Finally I spray some clorox into the waste container. That helps keep the vacuum from stinking.
Ronald Epstein : Hose does not last
Hose broke after a few short years. I would not purchase this again
Original review below
==========
As a pet owner, i have owned my share of pet cleaning machines that take care of stains. The most recent was this small Bissell cleaner:
It wasn't very powerful. It took a lot of detergent, and in the end, became so clogged with dirt that it stopped working.
I had to find something better -- especially since I just introduced a new puppy into my home. This Bissell 3624 SpotClean Pro seemed to get very good reviews. I decided to give it a try.
What I like about this machine over the one I referenced above, is that it's much more powerful. Additionally, it holds more water to do big jobs and it uses far less detergent. In fact, i believe you only need to add 2 ounces of detergent to a full tank.
Out of the box, I had it running within 5 minutes. All you do is fill one of the tanks with hot water up to the indicated line. You then add detergent. You place the tank back on the Bissell machine. You select one of two sized brushes (I went with the larger one), and you turn on the machine.
Find the dirty spot you want to work on. Wave the brush over the spot while pressing the lever on the bottom handle. A stream of detergent and water will spray over the spot. You simply, and slowly, brush over the wet spot. You will see the Bissell SpotClean suck in the dirty water and deposit it in the secondary tank. You will be amazed at how much you can do with a single tank of water. In the end, you simply disengage the dirty tank of water and dump it in the sink.
Here's a big tip for you....
Don't buy the detergent bundle. There's better detergent that you can use for your pet problems. It gets much better ratings than the one that Bissell wants to include in their bundle....
It should cost you the same as the bundle price if you combine the above product with the machine.
So far, I am very happy with the SpotClean. Despite some reviewers saying you could do better without it, I highly disagree. It really took care of some tough urine stains on my rug. Where there were several scattered yellow patches, now there are none.
Take my word for it, this machine does an excellent job. And noisy? Not much noisier than your vacuum cleaner. I was kind of surprised to read some reviews where people complained about the noise. What did you expect from a product like this?
I really think you will be happy with the performance of the SpotClean. If it's able to completely eliminate urine stains left on a carpet for days (sometimes you don't catch it right away), then you imagine how well it works for just about everything else.
By the way, it has a great design for storage. The hose wraps around the side and then locks into place. There is a carrying handle on top that makes it super easy to carry it around.
I highly, highly recommend this cleaner.
Mustalina : Amazing machine!
I bought this machine in 2018 and have used it here and there for animal cleanup on my throw rugs. BUT it saved me last night. My dog cut her ear and decided to shake her head while standing on my gorgeous gray & white throw rug in the living room. Blood splattered all over it. It looked like a murder scene. After cleaning her up...she's fine...I tackled the rug. My first thought was to cry and that I'd have to buy a new one. But, then I remembered I had this machine. I didn't have much hope for it to remove blood as the blood already started to dry. But, it DID! See my before and after pictures. I couldn't believe it. So, 3 years later I had to come back to this post to write a review. It's well worth the money and I highly recommend it.
Jasper Johns : Worked great with the assistance of a diluted bleach spray bottle on my chaise lounge cushions
My chaise lounge cushions were a mess. They had muddy kids, a muddy puppy, wind blown leaves, spills, smudged food, spilled drinks, you name it- all baked into our chaise cushions all spring summer and fall. They were also rained on and sat out soggy for days. Finally we brought the cushions in for winter despite being wet. They took forever to dry in our basement. A few days ago I resurrected them from the basement and tried to scrub them with soap and oxyclean. Hardly any improvement with that method, sadly. The 3 cushions I needed to clean were $160 each. I was coming to terms with having to throw them away and buy new ones when I thought maybe it’s time to invest in a decent upholstery cleaning device. So I bought this Bissell in hopes I wasn’t throwing good money after bad. Well I’m happy to say I’m very pleasantly surprised with the results. The mechanics of this device: suction and spray of detergent solution are good. The power cord is plenty long enough for me to plug it in from inside the house for outdoor cleaning jobs such as car upholstery. It is a bit messy because dry fabric (depending on the fabric) may not absorb the detergent spray right away so like a very dry sponge, it may first just run off on to the floor. But using the fine most of the sprayer from a distance generally helps moisten the fibers so they will gradually absorb more of the cleaning solution. I like the ease of the trigger sprayer on off feature. The window in the scrubber attachment lets you see how much water and dirt you’re extracting and informs you about when you’re done scrubbing or suctioning moisture out and you can move along to another area. Btw: When the suction stops that means your tank is full.
In my case I used the included detergent sample that came with this device with okay results but ended up using a spray bottle of 25% diluted bleach solution plus a few ounces of meyers all purpose cleaner, because of the severity of my dirty cushion situation. When using bleach I just put plain water in the tank. I used plan water to moisten the material then sprayed the diluted bleach with soap onto the cushions with a fine mist. Let it sit for 3-4 minutes and used the Bissell to scrub and extract the cleaning fluid with plain water. This is what really made the difference for me. I’ll post some photos of the pal turquoise chaise cushions in a separate post because I’m not seeing an option to post photos here.

Tom Steele : Best Bissell Ever!
So here's my story. My 9 year-old daughter conned my wife and I into getting her ferrets. Yes, two ferrets, because one by itself is a bad idea and it will be lonely. So we now have two, high-power, high-output pooping machines. These things are epic. I estimate they put out approximately 100% of their body weight in poop each day - by nine am.
It became very quickly apparent that ferrets are not as quick to potty train as, say - a dog. Or any other domesticated animal. That's because they aren't domesticated animals. They are weasels. No, really, that's what they are. Cute weasels. That poop. All. The. Time. They aren't keen to use their litter boxes, either.
Where was I? Oh yeah... I realized that I needed to order a new spot cleaner, and fast! This is not my first spot cleaner rodeo. I've had the Bissell Little Green machines and various other iterations and versions and brands and models.
Bissell has gotten it right with this one. When I did my research, the Bissel had an average rating of 4.2, while the next brand had 4.0 and the other brand had 3.8. There really were only three serious contenders in the reviews. While it might seem simple to take the 4.2 rating and run with it, I read the reviews carefully to make sure it was the right one.
It was... this is an outstanding carpet cleaner in every way. It is easy to fill and refill. It is easy to clean and empty - much easier than earlier versions. It is very well-designed. Bissell has taken 20 years of experimenting on us with their green machines and spot cleaners and finally nailed it. I rate it five stars, not 4.2. It is exceptional.
The handles work the way you would expect them to work. The cord is long and easy to take off and re-wrap, the machine is not unreasonably loud and perhaps most important of all, it REALLY cleans your carpet well.
The ONE THING I would caution you, is that most people use WAY TOO MUCH cleaner. It is human nature, we think a little more will be better. But with carpet cleaner, it isn't. You just end up leaving residue behind and that attracts dirt and gets the carpet dirty faster. Go with the recommended amount of cleaner.
This is the machine to get, whether you have ferrets, kids, dogs, mud or whatever staining your carpets. You won't be sorry.
Desirae Sifuentes : If you want CLEAN, don’t go with a Bissel.
This cleaner sucks... or rather, it doesn’t suck, which is the problem. I’ll spray out ~2 ounces of cleaning solution on my couch and despite slowly going over everywhere I’ve sprayed twice to suck up all the water, I’ll wind up with DROPS in the dirty water tank. I ultimately don’t even feel like I’m cleaning my couch because the stains and smudges don’t come out with the spray/scrub/suction; I feel like I’m just dampening my couch to create a water magnet for more dirt and more problems.
I read all the reviews here and elsewhere before buying this product and I’m so disappointed. This is the second Bissel water product I own that has terrible suction so I really should have known better. Alas, I believed the reviews and thought I would try.
Ederson O. : Great for car detailing
I bought this because I needed to clean the seats of a car I bought. The seats smelled weird and were stained (they were covered in dog hair too). It took me a bit to develop a technique on how to clean them. I watched a guy on YouTube that details cars and I got some ideas from him (his name is detail geek). I didn't purchase any Bissell carpet solutions (idk what they're called), instead I bought a bottle of chemical guys lightning fast carpet cleaner, I also bought a set of brushes for a drill. I started cleaning the first seat but it was taking me forever because every tank of water was coming out brown. I continued cleaning the same seat for the rest of the day, I was also using a drill with a brush. The next day I smelled the seat and it smelled the same, it didn't have stains but still smelled. I thought for a bit and wondered if clothes detergent would work, I tried it along side with the chemical guys and fabric softener that smells good. The drill I was using was losing strength because it's old and cheap, it was the only drill I had since my other one broke. The drill was making it harder to clean but I kept going. I put my solution in a pressurized sprayer, I used hot water which isn't good for the seals but ehh, I'll buy a new one. After using that solution and having hot water in the bissell tank, I cleaned the seats and interior of the car. It smells good now and I recently cleaned the seats of a bucket truck. They smelled terrible because of all the sweat they sucked up but this time i had a new drill which made it super quick. I got off topic but I wanted to share what I did just in case someone is trying to do the same. I recommend buying this if you want to, I haven't had any problems with it. The sprayer doesn't spray sometimes for me but I just take out the water tank and place it back in and it works. As long as you take care of it just like other things then it should last you a while.
Amazon Customer : Excellent power and effectiveness are worth the little quirks.
Pros: This little thing is powerful, effective, and easy to use!
(See attached pic of the nasty dirty water tank after I used it on a cushion that did not look dirty. No stains or obvious anything. Just regular use in a no shoes in the house home).
Cons/quirks:
1. tank capacity is small and you have to refill it a few times if you are doing a full cleaning rather than spot cleaning stains. To be fair though, it is marketed and named for spot cleaning). I imagine it'll take 2 tanks to do stairs but I don't have carpet on mine so I can't confirm.
2. The consequence of a powerful spray of the soap/water solution is that surrounding areas get very wet. Overspray is a serious issue so put down a towel or some drop plastic to catch the collateral wetness. This is a bigger issue with the larger carpet head than the smaller upholstery head.
3. The clean water tank leaks a little when you flip it to install it. When it is fully upside down it no longer leaks.
thx1138 : Waste of time and money
Nancy Y : Great for spot cleaning carpets and rugs
Have used this now twice since I got it - on my carpet, rug, sofa and stairs, and it seems to work well - even on year-old stains! I'm impressed so far. The water in the reservoir after use was BLACK, so I know it worked! It's on the louder side than I expected, but the suction power seems good so it's worth the noise. Still quieter than a commercial cleaner. Let's see how well it holds up over the long haul. Looks good and is compact for easy storage.
A couple of design suggestions that I would like to share. Firstly, it could use some wheels underneath to help move this along. Without wheels, it just tips over when I pulled it to move closer to my spot. It's not meant to do a whole room, but seriously, a set of wheels like on suitcase would do wonders! Also, a wider head that's a full stair wide would be great. Suction might not be as concentrated, but would be enough I think. And a retractable powercord... I'd pay an extra $100 for the above.
Sailor Crafty : It will break and you can't replace parts!
Our hose has broken on both ends several times. We macguyvered it back together but it was never the same and you can't get a replacement part! Another thing went wrong with suction and we had to put a screw in where the water container connects to the machine to give it room to work. It is difficult to clean where it gets nasty as well. This is a throwaway product that we will never purchase again.
tony basselgia : Drip Drip Drip
I got my cleaner 2 days ago and was looking forward to putting it together and see how it worked. My last one died after a few years of use and was looking for another portable unit to use for little accidents with our beagles. I put the cleaner together and added solution/water. As soon as I turned the water tank over to put in the machine it started to leak. I tried to tighten the cap, but it made no difference. I checked the plug for any obvious damage but it looked fine. rubber gasket was there and no wear on it. Tried one last time to put cap on making sure that I did not cross thread it. Went to put the container back on the cleaner and it started to continuously stream out of the cap. I emptied it, contacted amazon and sent it back. All this within 3hrs. Not sure if I got a bad machine, but for what it cost, I should not have to worry if it will leak or not.
Hugo : It’s worth every penny!
I’ve been researching this small extractor for a while. I do this often when I’m buying anything over a certain dollar amount. The reviews on YouTube are excellent and so is on here so I figure I would add my two cents.
This machine is useless if you’re not using the combination of great all purpose cleaners, Bissell solutions and technique. This machine gets it done!
I do rideshare and from the photos you can see how I took a food spill accident to spotless in no time. That wasn’t a couple passes, it was a few quick ones and DONE!
Pros: Suction is great Bissell solutions are great Cord length good Ease of use is great Tanks hold well Almost dry to the touch
Cons: Whose length is short (I assume is because you’d lose suction) Small drips here and there from the handle It’s kinda loud The design of the handle makes it so when you use suction only, you accidentally hit the trigger
To top it off, this machine is perfect for vehicles, carpets, anything that will not require massive cleaning (like a whole studio carpet).

Straight_Shooter : Good Concept; Needs Improvement
I’ve owned the unit for almost a year; and I can say I sadly do not recommend purchasing one. Read on to learn why:
Pros +Strong Suction - Does a good job cleaning up pet mistakes from carpets; having the solution sprayer is so nice + Compact Design - Easily fits into a kitchen sink cabinet + Lightweight - Combined with the long cord? I had no issues using it on the stairs
Cons -Cleaner Head Broke - After 11 months of light use, the cleaner head snapped off. Due to design, hose must be factory serviced to be replaced so I can attach cleaner heads again. Dumb AF design. - Hose Stains - Be warned, suck up a bowl of clean water after each use or the clear (why?) hose will get stained a dark / gross yellow color. - Dirty Cleaner Heads - Due to design; the cleaner head can collect debris / filth and soaking it in water can’t remove it. But thanks to it’s clear window (why?) I’ll always know it’s there. Gross. - Loud - The unit is far louder than my dyson, and since you’ll be relatively close to it? Better acoustic dampening would be nice
Overall:
The hose head breaking off seems to be a common problem; and given how it’s not user replaceable? I am taking off 3 stars. This unit has a solid design; but needs the above issues addressed to be great. Having best in class suction isn’t enough it will not last (and looks filthy in the process).
